Analysis of religiosity and practice: a study of Greek‐Australian Orthodox youth

This study examined the religious practices of a sample of 254 Sunday School pupils from a Greek background. Results indicated moderate levels of self‐rated religiosity which were evidenced in participation in Holy Communion, confession, fasting, bible reading and prayer. Self‐rated ethnic identity was independent from religious variables in this sample. One general religious factor accounted for around 40% of the total variance and results suggested a continuum of religious behaviour from internal/personal behaviour (for example bible reading, prayer, confession) through to external/visible behaviours (for example fasting, Sunday School attendance).
