The plural self: a hermeneutical view on identity and plurality

Pages 92-99 | Published online: 06 Jul 2006

Abstract

This article is a somewhat revised version of the author's contribution to the 1992 meeting of the International Seminar on Religious Education and Values in Banff, Alberta, Canada. It studies the recent elaborations of the hermeneutical philosophy of Ricoeur, in order to find a concept of personal identity that fits the present situation of cultural and religious diversity in general, and the multi‐faith approach to religious education in particular.
