Abstract
A simple lattice theory of elastic and dielectric properties has been applied to obtain expressions for the strain derivatives of the shear moduli, bulk moduli and the dielectric constants of solids having NaCl- and CaCl-type lattices. The derived expressions have been used to evaluate the magnitude of the pressure derivatives of the elastic and dielectric constants and these are found to be in reasonable agreement with the available experimental values.
