The role of dislocations in ultrasonic attenuation

Abstract

Ultrasonic attenuation measurements have been made on high-purity poly-crystalline aluminium in various states of deformation and recovery. The results indicate that the dislocation content of polycrystalline aluminium is a major and separable contribution to the total ultrasonic attenuation.
