Abstract
The configuration of two like parallel screw dislocations is calculated using second-order elasticity. Whereas in the case of an edge dislocation interacting with a parallel line of dilatation there is a relative displacement of the lines of the two defects, equal to that which would be produced if the configurational force between them was a true mechanical force, in the case of two screw dislocations there is no corresponding displacement of the cores.
