Abstract

For polycrystalline materials, only theoretically predicted rotation rate fields (RRFs) have been available up to now. In this work an original method for the determination of the RRF from experimental texture data is proposed. Brass and silver rolling textures were used as input data for this method. The starting point of our procedure is the continuity equation for texture evolution. We have fitted the experimental textures with a certain number of Gaussian functions in order to smooth the data and to obtain analytical expressions. The RRFs obtained have proper symmetry and satisfying the continuity equation. They have been tested by an inverse procedure, that is by predicting the deformation textures (also in the frame of the continuity equation) and comparing those with the experimental textures.
