Formation of dislocation loop at 800[ddot]C in L10 Ti35Al55V10 compound

Abstract

Dislocation loops in the deformed Ti35Al55V10 compound at 800[ddot]C were found to lie in a non-glissile plane, (1―1―3) which was determined through tilting the beam direction along three intersecting great circles of the stereographic projection. These dislocation loops were generated from the helical segments of 1/2<110> type dislocations. These non-prismatic dislocation loops have grown further into 0.1μm diameter. These loops appear to contribute to the strain hardening at high temperatures in this compound.
