Abstract
The atomic structures at Ti(C, N)-TiB2 interfaces with two different orientation relations in Ti(C, N)-TiB2-Ni ceramics were investigated using high-resolution electron microscopy including image simulations. Atomic interface structure models of the Ti(C, N)-TiB2 interfaces were proposed. By comparing the experimental images with the image simulations for given boundary structure models, the possible atomic configurations of the interfaces have been determined. The step structure at the interface was analysed by application of the near-coincident-site lattice theory.
