Abstract

Quasiparticles of fractional quantum Hall effect states are anyons carrying fractional charge and obeying fractional statistics. Anyons can interact with charged impurities on or near the plane of the electron layer to form bound states. We study a system consisting of a finite number of electrons confined to a spherical surface interacting with a localized valence-band hole separated from the surface by a distance d. A number of ionic states, consisting of several quasielectrons bound to the localized hole, can be identified from the dependence of the energy spectrum on Landau level filling factor v e. The photoluminescence spectrum resulting from electron-hole recombination is studied as a function of separation d and filling factor v e at a finite temperature. The multipeaked structure of the general spectrum supports the hypothesis of stable anyonic ions.
