Pages 376-377 | Published online: 03 Jul 2009

Abstract

This article focuses on the importance of the development of dialogue between teacher and student if learning is to occur. A review of videotaped interactions between teacher and student illustrates that teaching and learning in medicine can occur through observation, introspection and dialogue in the teacher-student relationship. The teaching of clinical medicine requires skilled teachers who can devote the necessary time to teach students well.
