ABSTRACT

This paper presents an experimental model of discrete wavelet transform (DWT) based identification, classification of power quality issues and its mitigation using unified power quality conditioner (UPQC). Here, the DWT technique is implemented for desired feature extraction of various power quality issues using digital signal processor (DSP) TMS320LF2403A. Power quality issues are classified using the J48 classifier. In addition, a laboratory model of UPQC is designed and developed to mitigate power quality problems in the single phase system. This model is a unique function of handling identification, classification and mitigation for various power quality problems, here the unit vector control scheme is implemented and it is found that UPQC effectively compensates voltage sag, voltage swell and harmonics.
