Apport de la télédétection à I'étude de la relation entre I'hydrodynamisme de surface et les récifs coralLiens

Summary

Les facteurs qui gouvement la croissance récifale sont ccux qui conditionnent la vie des organismes bio-constructeurs. Pour la zone étudiée et à proximité de la surface, I'hydrodynamisme constitute la force majeure qui faconne les structures corallicnncs. En se fondant sur des données satellitaircs multi-sources, nous avons lente d'identifier les differents elements impliqucs dans cette relation:

(1)I'hydrodynamisme: zones de déferlantes et plan des houles,

(1)les zones de bio-construction intense des récifs coralliens,

La synlhése de ces informations, en detaillant la façon dont l'écosystème récifal intègre et modilic les paramétres hydrodynamiqucs, permet d'aller bien au delà de la simple fonction statiquc d'inventaire, pour constituer un véritable outil de recherche el de réflexion sur la dynamique récifale.

The factors governing reef dynamics are those that determine the lives of bio-constructive organisms. For the study area and near the surface, hydrodynamics constitute the major forces that mould reef structures. Basing ourselves on a multiscale approach, we shall attempt to sort out the various elements involved in this relation:

(1)hydrodynamics: breakers and swells,

(2)active and passive structures of coral reefs.

The synthesis of these results, by elaborating on the way in which the reef ecosystem integrates and modifies hydrodynamic parameters, reaches far beyond the simple function of an inventory and constitutes a veritable tool for research and reflection on reef dynamics.
