Abstract

A case study is presented in order to illustrate the usefulness of multi-spectral information for the classification of cloud complexity in severe weather conditions. Severe weather over Rodos island and the Ionian Sea on 20 October 1994 occurred just one day before the heavy rainfall over mainland Hellas, which due to sudden flooding over certain areas of Attiki, Hellas, led to the deaths of 10 people.
