The development of water transport in China

Abstract

This article gives the general picture of the present situation and development of water transport in China. It outlines the size of the problems, the organizations concerned and achievements since 1949. It contains, on the one hand, the description of the whole development of transport by this mode from the founding of People's China to the present, and, on the other hand, the introduction of ocean‐going and coastal shipping, ports, inland water transport and other equipment. The paper describes the economic reformation of water transport now being undertaken, the shortcomings at the present time and our vision of the future.

On trouvera dans cet article une présentation générale du transport fluvial en Chine, dans sa situation actuelle et en tendance. L'auteur y décrit la taille des problèmes, les organismes concernés et les réalisations depuis 1949. On y trouvera, d'une part, une description du développement d'ensemble de ce mode de transport depuis la fondation de la Chine populaire jusqu'à nos jours, et, d'autre part, des éléments concernant la pénétration des navires de mer, le cabotage, les ports, le transport fluvial intérieur et d'autres équipements. Viennent enfin une présentation de la réforme économique du transport fluvial entreprise actuellement, en réponse aux lacunes de la situation présente, et des vues sur l'avenir.

Dieser Artikel gibt einen allgemeinen Überblick über die heutige Situation und die Entwicklung des Verkehrs auf dem Wasser in China. Der Umfang der Probleme wird herausgearbeitet, die betroffenen Organisationen und die Entwicklungen seit 1949 werden angegeben. Enthalten sind auf der einen Seite Beschreibungen der Gesamtentwicklung dieses Verkehrszweiges seit der Gründung der Volksrepublik China sowie auf der anderen Seite eine Einführung in Bereiche wie Seeschiffahrt, Küstenschiffahrt, Häfen, Binnenwasserverkehr und andere Aufgaben. Das Papier beschreibt eine augenblicklich stattfindende Neugestaltung des Wasserverkehrs, heutige Mängelsituationen und unsere Zielsetzungen für die Zukunft.

Este trabajo presenta un cuadro general de la situación actual y desarrollo del transporte por agua en China. Se describen los problemas experimentados, las organizaciones involucradas y los logros alcanzados desde 1949. Contiene una descripción completa, por un lado del desarrollo de este medio de transporte desde la fundación de la China Popular hasta hoy en día, y por otro de la introducción de equipamiento para transporte marítimo y de cabotaje, puertos, transporte fluvial y lacustre. El trabajo también discute las reformas económicas que se están efectuando, las deficiencias actuales del sistema y nuestra visión del futuro.
