Eastern Adriatic and Ionic corridor: new link between Central and South‐Eastern Europe

Pages 311-319 | Published online: 13 Mar 2007

Abstract

Transport barriers that still exist between Central and South‐Eastern Europe and the difficulties brought about by the distance factor of this peripheral region and its insufficiently developed transport network are analysed in the paper. To create a globally efficient transport system a multimodal concept is proposed. It consists of four means of transport and communications in which every part and the corridor as a whole would improve transport services both in this region and between it and other European regions. Improving these transport links should contribute to the integration of this region into Europe.
