Editorial: Our reviewers

Earlier this year, I wrote about our previous Editors, and our Editorial philosophy. Equally important to the role of our Journal has been our Reviewers, and their contributions. Some are experts in highly specific areas, while many are more general and can appraise articles in much broader areas. Some have reviewed for us every month, and others less frequently; all gave their time generously and most send a timely response without prompting.

Their roles have been to spot dual or similar publications from the same authors or in identical topics. They have assessed the merits of papers for originality, but also where an important topic needs reiteration or emphasis. They have detected errors in expression, syntax and spelling, or in deviation from the standard format used by our Journal. They have frequently given very helpful advice to authors to improve the quality of their article, and thus of our Journal.

From now on, we are using Manuscript Central, and our Reviewers will perform their tasks electronically. Some have accepted that this ‘new world’ is not for them. We wish to thank all of our Reviewers over the last 2 years – their names are listed below – and, in anticipation, thank all those who will take on the new role.
