Notes on Kent's garden at Rousham

Abstract

William Kent remodelled the house and garden at Rousham around 1740. Since completion the garden has escaped substantial alteration and has been lovingly tended by the Cottrell-Dormer family, whose ancestor GeneralJames Dormer commissioned the work in 1738, together with improvements to the house and some new outbuildings.
