The Landscape of Civilisation, created for the moody historical gardens

Pages 187-189 | Published online: 30 Apr 2012

Abstract

Some few who write books are fortunate in having them made into television programmes or films. Geoffrey Jellicoe is particularly fortunate in being given the opportunity to transform his book into a garden theme park. The initial step forJellicoe, however, was from The Landscape of Man to The Landscape of Civilisation, a book describing the history, process and design of the Moody Historical Gardens in Galveston. The story is not uninteresting, nor is the design.
