Mechanical and systemic concepts of feedback

Pages 23-28 | Published online: 21 May 2009

Abstract

A mechanistic concept of feedback in which a materially evident response is returned to the sender of a message is contrasted with a systemic concept of feedback as a relationship. Systemic feedback focuses attention upon information within systemic relationships. Various implications of this concept are explored including dyadic and small group analysis.
