Arousing the whole mental faculty

No one doubts that questions are central to the educational process, yet only recently has the art of questioning been fully investigated in an effort to understand it in a systematic fashion. Heretofore the good question maker and user has probably learned the art intuitively. This essay illustrates how careful and conscious attention to the art can help both teachers and students improve the process of education.
