Conflicting demands in correspondence: Abigail Adams on women's rights

Abigail Smith Adams’ correspondence to her husband, John Adams, on the topic of women's rights is examined in this essay. It is determined that the apparent inconsistencies in these letters are a result of the conflicting demands of Adams’ rhetorical situation.
