Abstract
This essay reviews the 28 year academic career of Agnes G. Doody, an outstanding professor of speech communication at the University of Rhode Island. Anecdotal reports, objective student evaluation of teaching data, and interviews with students and colleagues reveal a legacy of excellence in the classroom, and on campus. Her achievements are attributed to a variety of factors including her effective communication skills, enthusiasm for the speech communication field, creative teaching methods, high academic standards, enduring courage, and warm sense of humor.
