Communication apprehension and implicit memories of public speaking state anxiety

The strength or weakness of the nervous system determines, in part, the nature of human responses to aversive external stimuli. Weak nervous systems, as demonstrated by several theorists and researchers, are implicated in the development of social anxiety traits such as communication apprehension. Mechanisms underlying implicit memory are elaborated and the stability of reconstructed emotional memories of public speaking state anxiety during performance is linked to public speaking apprehension.
