Notes
The exhibition was on display in the Deutsches Theatermuseum in Munich from February 18 to June 1, 2009, and in the Österreichisches Theatermuseum in Vienna from June 25 to September 27, 2009.
A catalogue edited by Claudia Jeschke and Nicole Haitzinger, Schwäne und Feuervögel. Die Ballets Russes 1909–1929. Russische Bildwelten in Bewegung (Berlin: Henschel, 2009), was published to accompany the exhibition. The catalogue presents a rich collection of images and topical articles by the editors along with scholarly contributions by Ann Hutchinson Guest, Evgenia Ilyukhina, Gunhild Oberzaucher-Schüller, Andrea Amort, Andreas Wehrmeyer, and Petra Kraus.
This incredibly delicate paper costume was constructed by a professor and a student of the School of Design at the Moscow Art Theater, a replica that allows a three-dimensional experience of the original Bakst design, which is entirely different from viewing costumes made after Bakst's design.
