Abstract

A method has been developed to separate and quantitate glycerol (1,2,3 Propanetriol) in soap via HPLC using refractive index detection. The method has good reproducibility and accuracy, and can be achieved in 30 minutes or less, including sample preparation, and compares well with standard methods. The detection of other glycols common to the soap and cosmetics industry is also described.
