Abstract

A procedure is described for the quantitative analysis of prostaglandin E2, its isomers and degradation products. The high performance liquid chromatographic method uses a chloroform/hexane mobile phase (70/30 v/v) mixture and a 250 × 4.6 mm, 5 micron cyano column, with testosterone as the internal standard. The time required for chromatography is approximately 15 minutes. The method gives a R.S.D. of 1.7% for the assay of the drug in tablets.
