Abstract

A new model theory for concentration dependence of hydrodynamic volumes and GPC elution volumes was proposed. In this theoretical model both the reduction of hydrodynamic volumes and the viscosity phenomena in the interstitial volume are taken into account at the same time. The effective hydrodynamic volumes, Vhs, of a solvated macromolecule decrease with increasing reduced viscosity, (7sp/c), and the GPC elution volumes,Ves, increase with increasing concentration, c, and intrinsic viscosity,(7), respectively according to the following relations.
