Abstract
The validity of analytical results in psychotropic drug assays is dependent upon, among other things, the proper method of specimen collecting and storage. This review cites the many problems associated with this aspect of analytical methodology including the proper collection tubes, anticoagulants and storage conditions necessary for the elimination of errors that may be introduced during sample handling. Specific examples are cited for the tricyclic antidepressant, antipsychotic, and some new antidepressant agents.
