Examining Racism, Power, and White Hegemony in Stodolska's Conditioned Attitude Model of Individual Discriminatory Behavior

Pages 21-27 | Received 30 Oct 2002, Accepted 14 Nov 2002, Published online: 24 Feb 2007

Notes

1Derman-Sparks and Phillips (Citation1997) argue that “Reverse racism has no meaning within the context of sytemic, institutional power where Whites as a group hold that power and use it to deny privilege to people of color. The attempts to reverse centuries of inequality through affirmative action and cultural self-determination are not attacks on Whites, per se, but on the system of racism” (p. 26).

2This paragraph is based on a presentation by Pearce, K. and Kivel, B.D. (Citation2000).
