The attitudes of recreation and park administrators toward public involvement

Abstract

This study found that the attitudes of recreation and park administrators in Texas toward public involvement were positive. Only minimal differences were identified between recreation administrators and park administrators in their attitudes toward public involvement. Managerial level and sex were found to exert a relatively significant impact on recreation administrators’ attitudes. Personnel occupying middle management positions were found to be more favorably disposed toward public involvement than those holding senior management positions. Similarly, females were significantly more favorably disposed to public involvement than males. No significant differences in attitudes were identified between different age or education levels of recreation administrators. No significant differences were found among park administrators in their attitudes toward public involvement based on variations in sex, age, education, or managerial level.
