ABSTRACT

In this paper, trivalent chromium ion was recovered by foam separation of soapberry extract. The advantages and disadvantages of separation and recovery of ions by foam separation technology are analyzed. Then, the critical micelle concentration of soapberry extract and other foaming agents is compared. Single factors were investigated for their effects on the separation of chromium ions. Orthogonal experiments were conducted to determine the conditions for foam separation. Finally, the most suitable separation conditions were found and the result was calculated: recovery rate reached 71.5% while enrichment ratio was 3.9.
