Microcrystalline cellulose as an absorbent in inorganic thin-layer chromatography has been successfully applied to the separation of various ferrocene derivatives and organometallics containing cyclopentadiene. The effect of gross dielectric constant versus the RF value is also discussed as well as the analogy between silica-gel chromatographic separations.
