Abstract
Extraction studies of the Co(II), Ni(II), and Zn(II) complexes of 1-ethyl-and 1-butylimidazole reveal correlations between magnitudes of the extraction process and α n functions characterizing reactions of stepwise complex formation in aqueous solution. Further, the effect of alkyl substituents in the imidazole ring on extractability of successive complexes has been established. For each of the systems studied, the number of complexes passing to the organic phase has been determined, and appropriate distributicn constant values, Pn , have been calculated.
