Relaxation Training: A Promising Approach For Helping Exceptional Learners

RELAXATION TRAINING has demonstrated promising results in lessening the anxiety, impulsivity, hyperactivity, distractibility, and emotional lability of exceptional learners, while positively influencing their self‐concept, academic achievement, and classroom behaviour. This article describes common approaches used to induce relaxation, reviews salient research, and addresses the question of whether it is premature to use relaxation training with exceptional learners in school situations. Additionally, guidelines for implementation are provided.
