The Need for Afghan Social Workers

 

Abstract

This article presents the author’s comments at a meeting at the United Nations on February 8, 2008, where she stressed the need for the education of Afghan social workers. She shares the international definition of the social work profession, as set out by the International Federation of Social Workers, and suggests several examples of how social work can play a crucial role in the healing of the country and the strengthening of rights for Afghan women.
