Joanne Sulman

Joanne Sulman MSW, RSW, is a research analyst in thoracic surgery at Toronto General Hospital and an adjunct lecturer with the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Social Work. Her publications include support groups for persons with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), single session groups, focus groups, parent support in the neonatal intensive care unit, cardiac rehab, diversity and human rights in the workplace, quality of life in esophageal cancer, and the impact of adverse childhood experiences on persons with IBD. She had the privilege of collaborating with Norma Lang in research with cognitively and physically impaired elderly, and as co-editor of the 1986 special issue of Social Work with Groups, Collectivity in Social Group Work: Concept and Practice.

Nancy E. Sullivan

Nancy E. Sullivan, MSW, PhD, has been a grateful recipient of mentoring from Dr. Norma Lang for several decades; and a long-time member of AASWG, now IASWG, active in numerous roles including President. She has participated in the Toronto Region Groupworkers’ Network, prior to and since it became the Toronto Chapter of the Association. Her research has focussed on family group conferencing, “family-like” groups, and teen group engagement in social policy. She is a retired faculty member from the School of Social Work at Memorial University of Newfoundland, Canada.

Anna Nosko

Anna Nosko, MSW, Dip. in Social Work Research, is the current chair of the Toronto Chapter of IASWG and a social worker with Family Service Toronto. She taught social group work at York University for seventeen years and continues to teach and consult with professionals in the field. Her publications include the development of a group model of working with male spouse abusers; group work with women who have experienced abuse; coleadership, a multidimensional model of groups in a psychiatric setting, and nondeliberative practice. She also cofacilitated groups for professionals on nondeliberative practice with Norma Lang.
