Abstract

Using the Sexual Interaction Inventory (SII), the scores of 21 couples in which the men had secondary erectile dysfunction were contrasted with those of 63 “sexually satisfied” couples. Significant differences between the two samples were found on 7 of the 11 scales. As expected, the dysfunctional couples reported greater dissatisfaction with the frequency and range of their sexual activities and less accurate perceptions of their partners sexual preference. The dysfunctional men reported less self-acceptance than the men of the normative couples, whereas mean pleasure ratings of sexual activity did not differentiate the two groups. The findings offer further support for the ability of the SII to identify problems in the sexual interactions of sexually dysfunctional samples.
