Abstract
Experts recommend that ideally parents should be sexuality educators for their children. This notion is based on two assumptions. One is that adults have a foundation of adequate knowledge enabling them to communicate competently, confidently, and comfortably about sexuality with their children. The second assumption is that adults choose to become sexuality educators. Both assumptions are often unfounded. Before stressing the need of sexuality education for youngsters, it is essential to focus on the need of sexuality education for parents. The challenges of educating parents about sexuality are unique. A program combining a correct knowledge base and techniques for communication will enable parents to educate their children, promote sex positive attitudes and enhance communication between parents and children.
