Abstract
The author describes the present situation, innovations, and future developments of educational practice of higher teacher training institutions in China. The paper includes three parts: a) tracks or programs for Chinese teacher education; b) the situations of educational practice of higher teacher training institutions; c) innovations and prospects for educational practice. In this paper, we discuss the achievement of educational practice in Chinese higher teacher training institutions which was made during the past ten years, to indicate some problems, and to provide a method to innovate the educational practice so that we can train more qualified secondary school teachers for the 21st century.
