Expansion of the Journal of Gerontological Social Work Review Section

The Journal of Gerontological Social Work is pleased to announce that the Book Review section is expanding to include reviews of films and videos, Internet-based resources, apps, and other media that are of interest to gerontological social workers and educators. The new section will be called Book, Media and Resource Review and be overseen by Dr. Jennifer Greenfield, our current Book Review Editor. This expansion is based on our interest in presenting a wider set of resources for professionals and educators at a time when many resources have become electronic and when knowledge translation products are diversifying. Dr. Greenfield will continue to select items for review, but The Journal also welcomes submission of unsolicited reviews of materials authors believe are of interest and importance to gerontological social workers. Unsolicited reviews of books or other materials may be submitted via the ScholarOne Manuscript Submission portal, manuscript type “review”, and will be evaluated for publication. Guidelines for review manuscripts are now included in the Information for Authors Instructions. As we make this expansion we are seeking to build our reviewer pool for this section. If you are interested in writing a review of a book or other media review, please contact Dr. Jennifer Greenfield by email with a brief description of your area of expertise and review interests.

IN THIS ISSUE

This issue of The Journal of Gerontological Social Work opens with a study by Kelsey Simons and Sofiya An presenting findings from a job satisfaction survey of gerontologocial social workers in Ontario, Canada. Second, Michal Grinstein-Weiss and colleagues discuss findings from wave four of the American Dream Demonstration study investigating saving for retirement in individual development accounts. Following that, Ruth E. Dunkle, Berit Ingersoll-Dayton and Letha A. Österholm and colleagues present findings from a study exploring case managers’ strategies for negotiating self-determination for persons with dementia. Finally, Catherine F. Croghan, Rajean P. Moone, and Andrea M. Olson provide findings from a study intended to identify indicators of a welcoming service environment for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender older adults.

As always, I hope you enjoy this issue of the journal.
