This issue of the Journal of Gerontological Social Work begins with three letters to the editor all focused on COVID-19 and the coronavirus pandemic. The letters focus on care and support of older adults in developing nations and the need for public health emergency planning to be more inclusive of older adults. I encourage you to read these letters. The calls for letters to the editor and manuscripts related to COVID-19 remain open and can be found through this link: https://www.tandfonline.com/toc/wger20/current.

The first two research articles in this issue consider grandparents as parents in the United States. Dr. Moshoula Capous-Desyllas and colleagues present perspectives of grandmothers and relative caregivers who unexpectedly took on child-raising duties in later life using a photovoice methodology for their study. Dr. Margot Davis and research team take a closer look at grandparents raising grandchildren due to the opioid crisis. Following these articles, Dr. Nancy Kusmaul and collaborators present findings from a pilot study about the role empowerment plays in providing positive outcomes for home care workers. Then comes an article by Dr. Thomas Hansen and Dr. Britt Slagvold that examines volunteering among baby boomers in Europe focusing on issues of engagement, motivation and barriers to participating. Our last article is a policy analysis from a set of collaborators in the United States looking at gaps in federal policy related to improving racial and ethnic disparities among long-term care residents.

We have two book reviews in this issue. Weidi Qin reviews the book Grandparenting practices around the world edited by Virpi Timonen, Ph.D. Torie Gettinger reviews Palliative care: A guide for health social workers edited by Bridget Sumser, Meagan Lyon Leimena, and Terry Altilio.

On behalf of all of the editorial staff, I wish you good health.
