What is the “Right Diet” for a Healthy Old Age?

Pages 2-3 | Published online: 01 Mar 2010

Notes

The NIHSenior Health website (www.nihseniorhealth.gov) was created by NIH's National Institute on Aging and National Library of Medicine and offers over 40 health and wellness topics of interest to older adults, their families, and caregivers. Topics cover not only diseases and conditions that can occur with aging, like Alzheimer's disease, COPD, and arthritis, but also tips to promote healthy aging such as exercise, preventing falls, and taking medications safely. Designed to be easy for older adults to use, the website includes large type, an audio function to hear text read aloud, simple navigation, and open-captioned videos. Recently, two new videos on nutrition have been added to the site—“Eating for Health” and “Choosing Nutrient Dense Foods”—and two more videos are expected to be posted in the coming year (www.nihseniorhealth.gov/videolist.html#eatingwell).
