&
Pages 139-141 | Published online: 07 Apr 2011

Abstract

An apparently healthy six-foot, two-inch, 220-pound football player at the University of South Carolina collapsed and died prior to practice in the training room at Williams-Brice Stadium. There was no previous history of cardiovascular or other major medical abnormality. A discussion of the final autopsy diagnoses, the click-murmur syndrome or mitral valve prolapse, and its apparent association with this case will be discussed.
