Abstract

Two new species of podapolipid mites are described from Central American Tettigoniidae, Orthapolipus balboanae n. sp. collected from Balboana tibialis (Wattenwyl) from Costa Rica, and Orthapolipus beeri n. sp. from Microcentrum sp. from Panama. The new species are compared with Orthapolipus nicsarae (Husband, 1988) from the Republic of Palau and O. blattae (Oudemans, 1911) from Indonesia. All Orthapolipus are considered to be parasites of tettigoniid species.
