Abstract
New species, genera, and families of Mesostigmata are described from the nests of Australian termites - Laelaptonyssus lacticolus n. sp. (Laelaptonyssidae) from Coptotermes lacteus; Teranyssus howardensis n. gen., n. sp., (Teranyssidae n. fam.) from Mastotermes darwiniensis; Uronyssus milleri n. gen., n. sp. (Uronyssidae n. fam.) from Nasutitermes graveolus, and U. watsoni n. sp. from Nasutitermes exitiosus. The ecological role of these species is not clear, but they may be parasites of termites.
