Abstract

According to information in the literature, the mite, Aceria tulipae, lives on wheat, onions, garlic, and tulips and transmits the wheat streak mosaic virus.

Morphological analyses were conducted of four legged mites from onions and wheat with statistical analyses of the data, and the transmission of viruses specific for onion and for wheat was investigated, resulting in the conclusion that mites of separate species, but similar morphology, occur on onion and wheat.
