Callipenthalodes, a new genus of penthalodidae (Acariformes: Eupodoidea) from New Zealand

Abstract

Callipenthalodes gen. nov. is described from New Zealand to accommodate a single species, C. pennyae sp. nov., specimens of which were collected from moss on Nothofagus logs. The genus differs from other genera of Penthalodidae in having numerous smooth setaeon the body, more than 30 setae on the prodorsum, ventral anus, and erect tarsal solenidia.
