ABSTRACT

A key to identification of the species of the Neotropical genus Spathipheromyia Bigot is presented. Thirteen of the 14 known species were keyed – S. albiceps Malloch, S. apicalis (Stein), S. atra Malloch, S. auriceps (Stein), S. chilensis Malloch, S.fuscipalpis (Stein), S. guttipennis (Thomson), S. insularis Malloch, S. magellani Malloch, S. minuta (Stein), S. nigra (Stein), S. picta (Stein) and S. stellata Bigot. Only S. fenestrata (Bigot) was not keyed by lack of available information. Type material of three species deposited at Museum für Naturkunde der Humboldt Universität, Berlin, was examined. A brief diagnosis of each species is also presented.
