Sponges collected by the Oxford diving expedition, to the Cabo Frio upwelling area (Rio de Janeiro, Brasil)

The present work deals with the identification and description of a part of the sponge material collected by the Oxford University Diving Expedition off the Brazilian coast where the phenomenon of resurgence occurs. The collections include the following species: Clathrina primordialis (Haeckel, 1872), Polymastia mammillaris (Müller, 1806), Cliona celata Grant, 1826, Tedania vanhoffeni Hentschel, 1914 and Toxochalina robusta Ridley, 1884.
