Abstract

Purpose: To report a case of transient visual field loss associated with severe exercise-induced headaches caused by an anterior cerebral artery aneurysm. Methods: Visual fields were evaluated using a Humphreys' visual field analyzer. An MRI scan and MR angiography performed. Results: A transient left supero-nasal visual field defect was revealed. The field defect corresponded with the MRI findings of an 8 mm aneurysm arising from the left proximal anterior cerebral artery with compression of the inferior aspect of left optic nerve. Conclusions: Transient visual field loss could be a sign of intermittent expansion of intracranial aneurysm following exercise.
